Insights into Networking in the Plant Microbiome

Report from Bill Schwoerer, Western Regional Sales Director

Many growers who are using microbial solutions in their operations are just starting to understand that not all microbes are created equal. A report published in PLOS Biology (Networking in the Plant Microbiome, February 12, 2016) details the complex world of microbes in the plant microbiome, a relatively new area of study, and one that has occupied Inocucor's scientists since 2007.

As the study reports, plant microbiomes form complex, interconnected microbial networks. The "microbial hubs" within these networks may act as mediators between the plant and its microbiome. The study authors detail a number of hypothetical examples of how microbiome diversity and function potentially influence host performance.
